NEC Compound Semiconductor Devices Selects Agilent Technologies' RF and Mixed-Signal Design Tools as New Standard for Mobile Communications RFIC Development
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2003--Agilent
Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that NEC Compound
Semiconductor Devices Ltd., has selected Agilent's RF and mixed-signal
design software tools as its new standard for mobile communications
RFIC development. Agilent's RF Design Environment (RFDE) provides NEC
designers with efficient circuit simulation and system design.
"Compared to other available alternatives, RFDE offers the fastest
RF simulation speed available, thereby shortening the overall RFIC
development cycle," said Naotoshi Higashiyama, NEC Compound
Semiconductor Devices Ltd. manager. "With RFDE, we have excellent
foundry and design kit support, plus we are able to standardize on a
widely accepted, proven platform."
Agilent RFDE is an RF electronic design automation (EDA) software
environment that tightly integrates leading RF simulation technologies
from Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) into Cadence Design System's
industry-standard analog and mixed-signal design flow. RFDE is a
direct result of the Agilent alliance with Cadence, giving analog and
RF engineers access to frequency-domain simulation technology from
within the Cadence environment. Agilent offers a subscription-based
model for purchase of licenses to access its circuit and system
simulation technologies.
"NEC Compound Semiconductor Devices Ltd. is an important developer
of communications ICs in Japan, and a strong supporter of our RF
design environment," said Jim Tabuchi, marketing and services manager,
Agilent EEsof EDA Division. "As operating frequencies continue to
increase for these products, the RFDE frequency-based simulators play
a critical role in the overall development of RFIC's, helping to get
mobile and wireless communication products designed quickly and
efficiently."
